Women in Wellness: Celebrating Movement and Physical Wellness
Share
As we continue our Women in Wellness blog series for March, we’re shining a light on the power of movement and physical wellness—an essential aspect of self-care that strengthens both the body and mind.
The Importance of Movement for Well-Being
Physical activity is not just about aesthetics or weight management—it’s a critical part of overall wellness. Regular movement can help reduce stress, boost mental health, improve cardiovascular health, and enhance energy levels. Whether it’s dance, yoga, running, or strength training, finding an enjoyable way to move is key.
Women Leading the Way in Fitness and Wellness
Many Black and Brown women are redefining fitness and encouraging inclusivity in the wellness space. These leaders are shifting the narrative and making movement accessible for all:
-
Massy Arias – A fitness trainer who promotes strength and empowerment through movement, advocating for both mental and physical wellness.
-
Jessamyn Stanley – A body-positive yoga instructor making yoga more inclusive and accessible for people of all body types.
-
Jeanette Jenkins – A celebrity fitness trainer known for her holistic approach to fitness and well-being.
Finding Joy in Movement
Wellness is personal, and movement should feel good—not like a punishment. Whether it’s taking a dance class, going on a nature walk, swimming, or engaging in a sport you love, the goal is to move in a way that feels fulfilling and sustainable.
Making Physical Wellness More Accessible
Representation and accessibility in fitness spaces have historically been limited for Black and Brown women. However, brands, trainers, and wellness communities are changing this by providing inclusive workout programs, virtual fitness classes, and community-based movement initiatives that cater to diverse needs.
